On this day in music history…
In 1969, Joe Cocker appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. Backed by The Grease Band, Cocker performed “Feeling Alright,” which was the opening track on his debut album. Titled With a Little Help from My Friends, the album had been released four days earlier.
In 2009, Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was mugged outside the Southern Tracks recording studio in Atlanta, where Pearl Jam had been working on their Backspacer album. The muggers got away with $3,000 in cash and $4,320 worth of goods, and Ament sustained a head laceration in the attack.
