On this day in music history…

In 1980, Ted Nugent performed for a crowd of over 6,700 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. Nugent included two new songs in the set list — “I Gotta Move” and “Hard as Nails” — both of which appeared on his Scream Dream album a couple months later. The Romantics were the opening act. Three months earlier, the band had released their self-titled debut album, which was charting at number 93 at the time of the show.

In 1989, “You Got It” by Roy Orbison reached its peak spot on the singles chart, hitting number 9. Sadly, Orbison didn’t live to see the success of the hit single. He had passed away the previous December, a month before “You Got It” was released.
