On this day in music history…

In 1969, The Beatles (half of them anyway) recorded “The Ballad of John and Yoko.” John Lennon and Paul McCartney recorded the song without George Harrison and Ringo Starr. After its release, the single peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the band’s native U.K., it topped the chart.
 

 
In 2016, Prince played the last show of his Piano & a Microphone Tour at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. It turned out to be his final concert; he died one week later at the age of 57.
