On this day in music history…

In 1992, The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness took place at Wembley Stadium in London. Organized by Queen, the concert featured a star-studded lineup of artists. The proceeds went toward the launch of The Mercury Phoenix Trust, an organization dedicated to fighting HIV and AIDS.
 

 
In 2013, Neil Diamond made an unannounced appearance at Fenway Park for the first Boston Red Sox game after the Boston Marathon bombing. Diamond was joined by the crowd in singing “Sweet Caroline,” and he described it as a moment he will never forget.
