A Benton man is in custody after purchasing a boat with a bad check.

Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by a local business around 2:30pm on May 19. A man made a purchase of a 24 foot boat with a check for almost $160,000. The business learned that the funds were insufficient several days later.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office was contacted after the boat had been seen on Rend Lake.

Deputies were able to find the boat at the marina, and some time later, Riechman and the boat trailer as well.

24 year old Travis Riechman of Benton was taken into custody by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and cited on a possession of a stolen vehicle charge.
