Juvenile arrested for motor vehicle theft and burglary in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A juvenile has been arrested after multiple vehicle break-ins in Carbondale.

Just after 2:30am Friday April 24, officers responded to the 1100 block of East Grand Avenue for a report of a person entering multiple vehicles parked in the parking lot. 

Officers found a 16 year old male inside a vehicle with the headlights on and keys in the ignition. The juvenile attempted to flee while carrying a backpack, but was apprehended. He was found to be in possession of multiple items belonging to other individuals.

The juvenile was arrested for Burglary to a Motor Vehicle, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer. 

He was taken to the Jackson County Jail pending transportation to a juvenile detention facility while awaiting a court appearance.
