In 1984, The Police played the final show of their Synchronicity Tour in Melbourne, Australia. A couple years later, after a hiatus, the band got together in an attempt to record another album, which didn’t materialize. The Police then disbanded. They would reunite two decades later for an extremely successful reunion tour.
In 1996, The Beatles released “Real Love,” the lead single from their Anthology 2 album. Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr had worked with producer Jeff Lynne on the song, which they had received as a John Lennon demo. The single went on to peak at number 11 in the U.S. and number 4 in the U.K.
