On this day in music history…

In 1978, Whitesnake played their first concert at the Lincoln Polytechnic on the campus of the Lincoln College of Technology in England. A few months later, Whitesnake would release their debut EP, Snakebite.

In 1980, The Marshall Tucker Band performed for a crowd of about 7,900 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. Following their regular set, the band played four encores. The Marshall Tucker Band had just released their Tenth album, but they didn’t include any of the new songs in the set list. In an interview after the show, guitarist Toy Caldwell said that the band wanted to wait a month for the album to get established before playing the new songs in concert.
