On this day in music history…

In 1969, Led Zeppelin released their self-titled debut album in the U.S. Despite numerous negative reviews, the album was a commercial success, charting at number 10 on the U.S. albums chart. The group was in middle of their first U.S. tour when the album was released.

In 2002, Adam Ant was arrested in London following an incident at the Prince of Wales pub. Some patrons at the pub had mocked Ant’s clothes, and he responded by throwing a car alternator through the window and pulling out a starter pistol, which people mistook for a real gun. When all was said and done, Ant pleaded guilty to one charge of causing affray, paid a fine of £500, and submitted to 12 months of mandatory psychiatric care.
