Herman’s Music Minute for November 14th

On this day in music history…
 
In 1967, an all-star package tour presented by promoters Harold Davidson and Tito Burns kicked off at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The bill consisted of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Move, Pink Floyd, Amen Corner, The Nice, Eire Apparent, and The Outer Limits, with each concert emceed by BBC radio personality Pete Drummond. The tour ended in early December.
 

 
 
In 1983, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the music video, premiered at the Crest Theater in Los Angeles. The video, clocking in at nearly 14 minutes, was shown to a private audience. Numerous celebrities were in attendance, including Prince, Diana Ross, Warren Beatty, and Eddie Murphy. Jackson’s co-star in the film, Ola Ray, was also present, as well as director John Landis. The music video received a standing ovation, and due to demand from the audience, an encore presentation followed.
