On this day in music history…

In 1984, “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. It was Lauper’s first number one hit in the U.S. The song would stay in the top spot for a total of two weeks, and it would go on to be nominated for Song of the Year at the 1985 Grammy Awards. “Time After Time” was the second of six singles from Lauper’s debut album, She’s So Unusual. The album peaked at number 4 on the chart.

In 2007, George Michael performed the first of two concerts at the new Wembley Stadium in London. The new stadium had opened on the site of the original Wembley Stadium in March, and Michael was the first musical artist to perform there. The shows were part of his 25 Live Tour, which celebrated Michael’s 25-year music career.
