Lost in the excitement in Friday night’s high school football opening night, Sesser-Valier-Waltonville head coach John Shadowens picked up his 100th career victory.

The Red Devils were at Hamilton County Friday night and won 34-16.

Shadowens began coaching at Sesser-Valier-Waltonville in 2001.  He coached the Red Devils for ten seasons, compiling a 51-52 career record. He took a three-year hiatus before returning to the SVW sidelines in 2014.

Shadowens has been sharing the head coach position with the legendary Mike Rude since 2019 at SVW.

Shadowens and his Red Devils will go for career win #101 this Friday night at home against Pinckneyville.
