Juvenile arrested after shots fired in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A 14 year old has been arrested after a shots fired investigation in Carbondale.

On May 8 around 6:20pm, officers responded to the 500 block of South Ash Street in reference to a report of shots fired. 

Officers learned the suspect, described as a young black male, was seen running eastbound in an alley. The suspect was identified as a 14 year old from Carbondale. That juvenile was located and arrested the following day for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  

The juvenile was taken to the Jackson County Jail while awaiting transport to a juvenile detention facility pending a court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing.
