On this day in music history…
In 1970, The Beatles released their 12th and final studio album, Let It Be. The album went on to top the charts in the U.S. and the band’s native U.K. Five days after the release of the album, the documentary of the same name premiered in New York. Premieres in Liverpool and London followed the next week. None of the band members attended any of the screenings.
In 1979, The Cure released their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys. The album spent three weeks on the U.K. chart, peaking at number 44. Less than a year later, the album was released as a compilation titled Boys Don’t Cry in the United States, Canada, and Australia with a different track listing.
