FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A fatal crash is under investigation in Franklin County.

Around 3:15 pm May 7, a two-vehicle crash on Illinois State Highway 34 near Marvel Road was reported.

When emergency crews arrived they immediately began rendering aid to the occupants.

The driver of a Chevrolet Malibu traveling westbound on Illinois Route 34, crossed into the eastbound lane and struck  a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck traveling eastbound. The driver of the Malibu, a 16 year old female, was taken to Franklin Hospital where she died due to her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 47 year old Male, was airlifted from the scene to a trauma center with significant injuries.
