WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (WJPF) – The Old King Coal festival kicks off in downtown West Frankfort.

The midway opens tonight, May 7, at 5pm with free entertainment from 6:30pm-9:30pm on the main stage.

The festival continues through May 10th with events such as the 5K run/walk at the West Frankfort City Park at 8am Saturday, the Coal Miners Memorial Service at the Coal Miner’s Memorial Park at 10am, and the Old King Coal Parade at 2pm.
