In 1983, “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran peaked at number 3 on the singles chart. The lead single from their Rio album, “Hungry Like the Wolf” was the band’s first hit in the States. None of their previous singles had charted in the U.S.
In 1988, Michael Jackson scored his ninth number 1 hit as a solo artist with “Man in the Mirror” from his Bad album. Bad was already a tremendous success for Jackson; it had topped the albums chart, and the three singles preceding “Man in the Mirror” had all gone to number 1 as well.
