In 1967, Aretha Franklin released her 10th studio album, I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You. The album ended up being one of the highest-charting albums of Franklin’s career, peaking at number 2.
In 1999, Elton John (and a piano) performed for a capacity crowd of 8,700 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. Tickets started at $25 each. John had last performed at the arena 19 years earlier.
