In 1984, Van Halen topped the singles chart with “Jump,” the lead single from their 1984 album. It ended up being the highest-charting single of Van Halen’s career.
In 1985, Tears For Fears released their second studio album, Songs From the Big Chair. The album topped the U.S. chart and peaked at number 2 in the band’s native U.K. Nine months after its release, Songs From the Big Chair was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA.
