On this day in music history…

In 1977, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band topped the singles chart with “Blinded by the Light,” the lead single from their Roaring Silence album. The song was written by Bruce Springsteen, who had released the original version four years earlier.

In 2002, Joey Ramone’s only solo album, Don’t Worry About Me, was released. Ramone had passed away 10 months earlier at the age of 49 following a six-year battle with lymphoma. The album peaked at number 109 on the Billboard 200.
