On this day in music history…
In 1986, the 16th episode of the fourth season of The A-Team aired on NBC. In the episode, Face is supposed to book an artist named Cowboy George to play at a bar, but he mistakenly books Boy George of Culture Club instead. The episode features Boy George as a guest star, and at the end, Culture Club performs “Karma Chameleon” on stage at the bar.
In 1987, Alice Cooper performed for a crowd of about 2,700 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. The turnout for the concert was smaller than expected. Outside the arena, there was a protest against the content of Cooper’s shock rock stage show. Megadeth was the opening act.
