In 1980, Pink Floyd’s The Wall album topped the U.S. albums chart. This was Pink Floyd’s third number 1 album in the States. Previously, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here had each peaked at number 1. After The Wall, Pink Floyd would reach the top spot twice more with The Division Bell and Pulse.
In 1993, the Rumours-era lineup of Fleetwood Mac reunited for the first time in six years. The band had been invited to perform at President Bill Clinton’s first inaugural gala, since the Clinton campaign had used Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop” as their theme song.
