On this day in music history…
In 1980, Led Zeppelin’s In Through the Out Door album was certified Platinum by the RIAA. In Through the Out Door was the band’s eighth studio album, and it was their last to be released during drummer John Bonham’s lifetime.
In 1981, Eagles Live, the first live album by the Eagles, was certified Platinum by the RIAA. When the band was ready to split up the previous year, Asylum Records still required one more album from them, per their contract. Glenn Frey worked in Los Angeles and the rest of the band worked in Miami, with tapes being sent back and forth until Eagles Live was finished.
