On this day in music history…
In 1978, the second Carpenters Christmas special aired on ABC. Titled The Carpenters: A Christmas Portrait, the broadcast featured the brother-and-sister duo of Richard and Karen Carpenter, with several special guests, including Gene Kelly, Georgia Engel, and Kristy and Jimmy McNichol. Richard and Karen’s parents, Harold and Agnes, also made an appearance.
In 2005, Elton John and his partner David Furnish threw a stag party ahead of their civil partnership ceremony, which would follow two days later. The party’s list of attendees included Bryan Adams, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Kid Rock, Tim Rice, and others.
