SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale raised $20,000 for Toys for Tots, marking the largest collective donation in the hospital’s history.

Hospital officials announced the donation during a news conference Tuesday morning, December 16, saying the total surpasses last year’s record contribution.

According to the hospital, the Four-Surgical department organized a hospital-wide basket raffle, selling nearly 24,000 tickets and raising $16,000 for the fundraiser.

The Memorial Hospital of Carbondale Auxiliary contributed an additional $4,000. Nearly $800 of that total came from a recycling initiative led by SIH facilities and maintenance staff.
