On this day in music history…

In 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono kicked off the Christmas season by releasing their standalone single “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” in the U.S. The single also featured the talents of the Plastic Ono Band and the Harlem Community Choir, which was made up of 30 children.

In 1972, Wings released “Hi Hi Hi” and “C Moon” as a double A-side single. Both songs were non-album tracks. Their next single, “My Love” from their Red Rose Speedway album, would come out in March of the following year, and it would be the first number 1 hit for the band.
