On this day in music history…

In 1977, Dolly Parton performed for a crowd of about 2,500 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. She opened the concert with her rendition of “Higher and Higher,” which was originally recorded by Jackie Wilson. The previous month, Parton had released her second album of the year, Here You Come Again, and it was charting at number 49. It would go on to be her first Platinum-certified album.

In 1982, Men At Work topped the U.S. albums chart with their debut album, Business as Usual. The album would stay in the number 1 spot for 15 weeks. Business as Usual also went to number 1 in the U.K., Canada, Norway, New Zealand, and the group’s native Australia.
