A UPS cargo plane crashed and burst into a massive fireball while taking off from Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport yesterday evening — killing at least seven people and injuring eleven more.

Officials say the aircraft was departing UPS Worldport around 5:15 p.m. when flames were seen coming from the left wing. The plane briefly lifted off before crashing near the end of the runway and exploding.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says several of the injured have very significant injuries.
Video from the scene shows heavy smoke and part of a nearby building’s roof shredded by the blast.

The condition of the three crew members on board has not yet been confirmed. The plane was identified as a McDonnell Douglas MD-11.

Authorities continue investigating what caused the fiery crash.
