On this day in music history…
In 1971, Johnny Cash played to a crowd of 7,100 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale. Cash had just released His Greatest Hits, Volume II, and it was in its first week on the albums chart at number 162.
In 1976, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band released their Night Moves album. In addition to The Silver Bullet Band, the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and a few other session musicians backed Seger on the album. Night Moves went on to peak at number 8 on the albums chart.
