On this day in music history…

In 1965, on John Lennon’s 25th birthday, The Beatles scored their fourth American number 1 single of the year with “Yesterday.” The song’s melody had come to Paul McCartney in a dream. When McCartney woke up, he immediately went to play it on the piano, ensuring he wouldn’t forget it. “Yesterday” stayed in the top spot for four weeks.

In 2009, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performed at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This was the final concert to take place at the stadium before its demolition less than a year later. Springsteen & The E Street Band performed at Giants Stadium a total of 24 times.
