In 1982,, Culture Club released their debut studio album, Kissing to Be Clever, in the U.K. The U.S. release would follow a couple months later. In Culture Club’s native U.K., the album peaked at number 5 on the chart, and in the U.S., it peaked at number 14.
In 1991, Soundgarden released their third studio album, Badmotorfinger. The album was Soundgarden’s most successful release at that point in their career, peaking at number 39 on the albums chart. It was a notable time for the so-called Seattle Sound; Pearl Jam’s Ten album and Nirvana’s Nevermind album had also been released in the previous month and a half.
