On this day in music history…

In 1990, Nelson topped the singles chart with their debut single, “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love and Affection.” The song was the lead single for their first album, After the Rain. At the helm of the group were brothers Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, the twin sons of Ricky and Kristin Nelson. This meant that the Nelson brothers were the second generation of Nelsons to hit number 1. Their father had achieved that feat twice during his music career.

In 1992, Stone Temple Pilots released their debut album, Core. It took less than a year for the album to go two-times Platinum. Core went on to peak at number 3 on the chart. STP’s next two albums would both chart in the top five as well.
