Herman’s Music Minute for September 19th

On this day in music history…

In 1975, Fleetwood Mac performed at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. The arena utilized a new seating arrangement designed to seat 4,000 people, and the show was nearly sold out. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were new to the group, having joined earlier that year. Ambrosia was the opening act.

 

 

In 1981, The Rolling Stones hit number 1 on the U.S. chart with their Tattoo You album. Tattoo You had been released less than a month earlier. At this point, the album’s lead single, “Start Me Up,” was already a hit. The second single, “Waiting on a Friend,” would be released in November and become another hit for the Stones.
