On this day in music history…

In 1977, Talking Heads released their debut studio album, Talking Heads: 77. The album was produced by the band along with Lance Quinn and Tony Bongiovi (a cousin of future rock star Jon Bon Jovi). Talking Heads: 77 went to number 97 on the albums chart, and its second single, “Psycho Killer,” peaked at number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1988, the David Green film Buster had its London premiere. The movie was loosely based on the events surrounding the Great Train Robbery. Phil Collins starred as the title character, Buster Edwards, with Julie Walters playing his wife. The film received mixed reviews. Collins contributed three songs to the Buster soundtrack, two of which were released as singles and went on to be number 1 hits in the U.S.: a cover of Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders’ “A Groovy Kind of Love” and “Two Hearts.”
