In 1977, Styx released their seventh studio album, purposely doing so on 7-7-77. Titled The Grand Illusion, the album did one better than the seventh spot on the chart, peaking at number 6. The album’s two singles both charted as well; “Come Sail Away” peaked at number 6 and “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)” peaked at number 29. The Grand Illusion was Styx’s most successful album at the time, and by the end of the year, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
In 1980, Led Zeppelin played the last date of their Tour Over Europe in Berlin. It turned out to be their final performance with drummer John Bonham, who would pass away that September at the age of 32.
