Harrisburg native and former John A. Logan men’s basketball coach Kyle Smithpeters got a well-deserved promotion on Tuesday.

Smithpeters left for an assistant coach position at Missouri under Dennis Gates in 2022.  Now, after three dutiful seasons and the only remaining assistant in Gates’ original group of assistants, Smithpeters has earned the title of Associate Head Coach at Mizzou.

Smithpeters has helped elevate the Mizzou program, helping the Tigers post a pair of 20-win seasons in the past three seasons and guided five Mizzou players to the NBA, including former John A. Logan College standout Sean East.
