On this day in music history…
In 1980, The Rolling Stones released their 15th studio album, titled Emotional Rescue. Their first album of the ‘80s decade, Emotional Rescue did well for the Stones, going to number 1 in several countries, including the U.S. and the band’s native U.K. In the States, it was the Stones’ seventh album in a row to top the chart. The title track and “She’s So Cold” were released as singles, and both songs were hits in the U.S. and the U.K.
In 1987, 15-year-old Tiffany kicked off her first tour at the Bergen Mall in Paramus, New Jersey. Throughout the summer, she performed at malls across the country to build her fan base and promote her self-titled debut album, which topped the albums chart early the following year. Two of the album’s singles, “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Could’ve Been,” peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
