CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A teen from Missouri is facing gun charges after a traffic stop in Carbondale.

July 3 around 10:45pm, a City of Carbondale Police Officer conducted a vehicle traffic stop in the 600 block of East Grand Avenue.  During the traffic stop, officers observed a handgun inside the vehicle near the driver. A 17 year old male was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Officers also located a box of firearm ammunition inside the vehicle. 

The juvenile was released to his parents pending a court appearance.
