On this day in music history…

In 1987, Soundgarden released their debut single, “Hunted Down.” The song would appear as the first track on the band’s Screaming Life EP later that year.
 

 
In 2008, a massive fire burned through three acres of the backlot of Universal Studios in California. It took over 12 hours to extinguish the blaze. Up to 175,000 audio master tapes are estimated to have been destroyed, affecting hundreds of recording artists.
