MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – A domestic battery incident led to a 2 hour stand off in Marion.

On May 30 at 7:24pm, police responded to a residence at 504 S. Fozzard Street for a report of a domestic battery.

52 year old Benjie Kent claimed he and his wife, 49 year old Susan Kent, got into an argument where she hit him with a pool cue and threatened to kill him. Susan locked herself inside their home to avoid officers.

Officers set up a perimeter and began negotiations when they learned she was possibly in possession of handguns.

Attempts to speak with Susan lasted two hours with no response. At 9:30pm, officers made entry into the residence and located Susan hiding under a bed in the back bedroom. She was taken into custody and Benjie was taken to Deaconess hospital for treatment.

Susan faces charges of Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. She was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
