On this day in music history…
 
In 1972 , America topped the Billboard Hot 100 with their debut single, “A Horse with No Name.” At first, the song was released as a standalone single, but later that year, it was added to a reissued edition of America’s self-titled debut album.
 

 
 
In 1981, the character of Dr. Noah Drake made his first appearance on the soap opera General Hospital. The character was played by Rick Springfield. Springfield was also active as a musician and had already released five solo albums. He initially stayed on General Hospital for two years, but returned to the show numerous times over 20 years later.
