In 1976, Bachman-Turner Overdrive performed for a crowd of about 5,600 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois. At the time of the concert, BTO’s Head On album was charting at number 25. In a post-concert interview, Randy Bachman complimented SIU Arena, calling it “a real nice hall.” Trooper was the opening act.
In 1981, The Who released “You Better You Bet,” the lead single from their Face Dances album. This was the band’s first release without original drummer Keith Moon, who had passed away a few years earlier. “You Better You Bet” peaked at number 18 on the U.S. singles chart, and it reached number 9 in The Who’s native U.K.
