A Carbondale man has been sentenced to 26 years in prison after being convicted in two separate jury trials involving aggravated battery and drug distribution.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Marsha Cascio-Hale says 39-year-old Brandon Brown assaulted a Walmart asset protection employee in 2024, sending the employee to the hospital.

Brown was also convicted of selling more than 17 grams of cocaine during a recorded drug transaction in 2021.

A judge ordered sentences of 22 years for the drug conviction and four years for aggravated battery to run consecutively.
