On this day in music history…
In 1973, Kiss played their first concert at the Popcorn Club in Queens, New York. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss were wearing flashy outfits and face makeup, but not the signature designs that would eventually become synonymous with Kiss. Less than 10 people attended the show.
In 1989, Guns N’ Roses performed at the 16th Annual American Music Awards. Because Steven Adler was in rehab for his drug addiction, Don Henley filled in behind the drum kit.
