On this day in music history…
In 1977, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green pulled a gun on his accountant. Green was unhappy with the royalty checks he’d been receiving—and it wasn’t because the checks weren’t big enough. In 1980, Prince made an appearance on American Bandstand in support of his second album. Host Dick Clark attempted to interview Prince, but received little more than one or two words per answer. Prince was 21 years old at the time, although he claimed he was 19 when Clark asked his age. Clark later said that his interview with Prince was one of the most difficult interviews he’d ever conducted.
