On this day in music history…

In 1973, Bruce Springsteen released his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. The title referenced the 24-year-old Springsteen’s neck of the woods, as he’d grown up near Asbury Park and was living there while working on the album. Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. peaked at number 60 on the albums chart.

In 1991, Madonna went to number 1 on the singles chart with “Justify My Love.” The music video had been banned by MTV and other networks due to its sexual nature, so Madonna made it available for consumers by releasing it as a video single.
