On this day in music history…

In 1988, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” by Poison topped the singles chart. The song stayed at number 1 for three weeks. “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” was the third single from the band’s Open Up and Say… Ahh! album, which was just shy of topping the albums chart. It peaked at number 2.
 

 
In 1988, Nirvana went into the studio at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle to start the main recording sessions for their first album. The album, titled Bleach, was released six months later.
