On this day in music history…

In 1964, The Beach Boys were flying to Houston when Brian Wilson had a nervous breakdown mid-flight. Upon landing, Wilson wanted to go home to Los Angeles, despite The Beach Boys’ concert obligations. Eventually, he went to his hotel room, but remained distressed. Ultimately, it was decided that Wilson would be sent home. For four months, Wrecking Crew musician Glen Campbell filled in for Wilson as The Beach Boys continued to tour. It wasn’t until 12 years later that Wilson resumed touring with The Beach Boys.

In 1999, a 27-year-old woman broke into George Harrison’s home in Maui. Harrison and his wife Olivia weren’t home. The woman proceeded to cook a pizza from the freezer, drink a bottle of soda, call her mother, and do her laundry, at which point the police arrived. The woman claimed to have a psychic connection with Harrison. She ended up going to prison for four months. Ironically, George would be stabbed by an intruder at his home in England exactly one week later.
