Carbondale police responded to a weapons incident late Thursday night on New Era Road.
Police say 25-year-old Ethan Hipps of Carbondale was firing a homemade firearm and was also wanted on an active Jackson County warrant for failure to appear.
A Civic Alert was issued, asking the public to avoid the area while officers investigated. Police later located Hipps inside a home with another adult and an infant.
Officers entered the residence due to urgent circumstances and safely took Hipps into custody. No injuries were reported.
Police say they recovered evidence of homemade firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.
Hipps now faces multiple charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm and endangering the life and health of a child. He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
