On this day in music history…

In 2013, the Rock to the Rescue concert took place at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois. The bill included several well-known acts with Illinois roots: Styx, REO Speedwagon, Survivor, Head East, and Brushville each performed their own sets. There were special guests as well; Ted Nugent took the stage with Styx to play a few songs, and Richard Marx did the same with REO. Also in attendance was former REO guitarist Gary Richrath, who joined his former bandmates on stage for the first time in 24 years to end their set. Larry the Cable Guy served as the emcee. The show was completely sold out, and all of the proceeds went to the central Illinois communities affected by the deadly tornadoes and storms that had happened a couple weeks earlier. The concert raised over $400,000 for the cause.
